April 2016 Publisher's Note

The yellow daffodil is virtually synonymous with spring. It symbolizes rebirth and new beginnings.

Read the column From the Porch and as the author Hunter Howe states “I’d learned that, whatever the age, we’re constantly starting over, that an ending is really a beginning.”

So spring ahead and enjoy our April issue in which we celebrate spring and Earth Day with our very own Unity College. Founded in 1965, Unity College is one of our nation’s leading environmental science colleges.

Now that the daffodils and crocuses are starting to sprout you might be feeling a little bit of spring fever. So, take a trip to the Strand in Rockland and take in a movie or even a live performance. This unique theater was built in the 1920’s. Read more in the article titled “Jo Dondis”, who is the granddaughter of the founder Joseph Dondis and enjoy its rich history.

It still may be a little early for baseball in Maine, and yet you can learn about a Mainer who made it into the Maine Baseball Hall of Fame. Sylvanus Tracy, Jr., a proud veteran, was honored this past year with an induction into the Maine Baseball Hall of Fame and by the way, even though we consider him a “Senior Partner”, friends still call him “Junior”.

Through our radio and T.V. partners you may be hearing our new catchy jingle or you could go to You Tube and search MAINE SENIORS for…
